Helping People. Changing Lives.

With 45 years experience as a clinician, and a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University specializing in Marriage & Family therapy, she currently works with a variety of clients.  Among her areas of expertise are depression and anxiety, marriage or partner difficulties, parent-child concerns, grief, emotional distress and personal growth.

Long before it was popular, I can humbly say that I was a forerunner in providing holistic healthcare in the community. Forty years ago, I endured eye rolling and loving whispers of “she’s a wacko”, but now people respect and expect holistic care and seek me out to provide those services as a psychotherapist.
My focus is on healing, not simply the diminishment of symptoms. I have developed the capacity to get to the heart of the matter easily and work with you quickly for the most improvement.
Having a great sense of humor helps to keep troubles in perspective and laughter is often a part of therapy. Life is too hard sometimes, to not be able to laugh at it, and at ourselves.
— Sharon Diaz Psychotherapist and Author

With sensitivity and compassion gained from her personal life as she healed from her own family issues and loss, as she gained strength as a single parent, and used all her known healing modalities to help her when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, she works actively with each client to help them to identify clear goals and to utilize their strengths to achieve what they want, while also teaching them new skills .

She was inspired following the death of her nephew who left behind a wife and two small children, to write Melodee Roo & The Wantoks Too! Letters For Grieving Children Like You, an award-winning at-home grief support program for grieving children and their families. This first-ever program of its kind, offers specific techniques to comfort, educate and guide children and their families to cope with the death of a loved one, right in the privacy and comfort of their own home.

In her spare time, Sharon has done stand-up comedy in CT and graced the stage of the Metropolitan Room in NYC!

Sharon has presented workshops and has taught at local community colleges.
